How we got here

Philly Roller Derby Juniors began as a summer day camp in 2013, with the kids coming together as an official team just a few months later and playing their first sanctioned games the following season. Today we are a recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization, proud members of the Junior Roller Derby Association (JRDA) with over 100 players of all genders and skill levels.

We began our journey splitting time between Millennium Skate World in Camden, NJ and Rizzo Rink in Philly. In 2016 we established The Roller Jawn, our beloved warehouse in Germantown, PA. During the pandemic we hosted outdoor practices at Philly’s Houston Playground before eventually moving to our new “forever home” at the Northeast Racquet Club & Fitness Center (NERC).

The Philly All Stars have participated in every JRDA Championships tournament since 2017, medaling at every one they have entered since 2019, and winning four straight Open Division Championships in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. Philly players and coaches have competed at many Junior Olympics and World Cups, most recently with three Philly coaches and seven Philly players earning gold medals at the 2025 JRDA World Cup in Brisbane, Australia.

In 2024 the Philly All Stars went on a barnstorming tour of Europe, conducting a series of clinics and playing games in three countries — Denmark, France and England. The tour concluded with Philly playing Team Great Britain in the first-ever game sanctioned by JRDA United Kingdom.

In 2018 Philly established a competitive B Team, the Philly Brawl Stars. The Brawl Stars quickly earned a reputation for tough gameplay and a willingness to play both A and B Teams from around the country. In 2023 the Brawl Stars began competing as a fully sanctioned team, winning the gold medal at the inaugural B Team Championships in 2025 and following up with silver in 2026.
